New York interior design studio Champalimaud Design launched additions to its lighting collection in collaboration with Visual Comfort at High Point Market this week. Developed over nearly two years, the new designs expand the studio’s lighting offering, with a particular focus on portable lighting.

Inspired by Founder Alexandra Champalimaud’s Portuguese heritage, the collection introduces four new lighting families and nine designs, drawing on the country’s rich architectural traditions and decorative tilework.

The collection also pays homage to Portugal’s centuries-old tradition of filigree, an intricate form of decorative metalwork characterized by delicate, lace-like patterns. Its flowing curves and looped motifs inform the sculptural contours of the designs’ ironwork. Ceramic forms also feature throughout, finished in specialty glazes with a palette inspired by Portuguese tiles.

“What makes Champalimaud’s lighting so compelling is the balance between familiar forms and distinctive details,” said Charles Neal, executive vice president of Visual Comfort & Co, and maker behind its Signature Collection. “In this collection, expressive table lamp silhouettes, rich glazed finishes, and sculptural metalwork give each design its own character, while carefully considered proportions allow the pieces to sit naturally within a room. That balance gives designers lighting with a strong point of view and the versatility to work across a range of interiors.”

The new families — Coimbra, Nuvem, Aveiro, and Alvorada — span cordless accent lamps, table lamps, floor lighting, chandeliers and sconces. The collection will be available for shipment in Q1 2027.
