Zendaya, Connor Storrie and More Emmys 2026 Nominations Snubs and Surprises
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is wondering what happened to Wonder Man.
The actor spoke out after his Disney+ show was reportedly canceled after just one season.
“Word just dropped that Wonder Man won’t be coming back for Season 2. (And if you don’t knowww, now ya knoww!)” Abdul-Mateen II wrote on Instagram July 30. “That’s life, right? Everything will shake out.”
The news is especially shocking after he just received a 2026 Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. Nevertheless, Abdul-Mateen II will forever be grateful to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“I wanted to say thank you to everybody who WATCHED the show, ENJOYED the show, and SHARED that they enjoyed the show in some way or other,” the 40-year-old continued. “The show worked. And that’s my favorite thing about it.”
While Disney has yet to confirm reports that despite renewing the show it is now canceling it, Abdul-Mateen II hopes the series remains in fans’ hearts for years to come.
“I could see it on the faces of the Youtube Reactors (because I watched along with y’all this time. Shoutout to y’all) and I can see in the messages I get saying how the show reminded some of you not to give up,” he wrote, “and I feel it in the genuine love shared when I bump into some of you all during the day. So, thinking of you all today. I’m glad we got to be a part of something cool.”

He concluded, “Thank you for watching… And uhh… See you at the EMMYS.”
While he’s now mourning the show’s ending, just weeks ago he was celebrating his first-ever Emmy nod.
“Wow! What a gift it is to be tapped by Marvel to portray a superhero who, like many of us, isn’t afraid to wear his passion for our business on his sleeve,” he reacted following the July 8 nominations announcement. “In that regard, it’s only right that this nomination also stands as an acknowledgment of the passion of everyone who helped put this show together.”
But Wonder Man isn’t alone. Keep reading to see more fan-favorite show that were canceled this year.
