Widow’s Bay Star Kate O’Flynn Reveals Advice From BFF Jonathan Bailey
Kate O’Flynn showed up as the life of the party at the Emmys 2026.
And the Widow’s Bay star had plenty of reason to celebrate at the Sept. 14 ceremony, namely, her nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series, her first-ever nod from the Academy. As her career continues to blossom, O’Flynn shared what advice she’s received along the way, including from friend Jonathan Bailey.
“One step at a time,” O’Flynn exclusively told Justin Sylvester during Live from E!: 2026 Emmys of the Wicked alum’s best tip for success in the spotlight. “Your best friends are there for you, back yourself, and we love you.”
As such, the 40-year-old considered whatever happened tonight, win or lose, “all gravy.”
And O’Flynn made the most of her first Emmys red carpet as a nominee—among fellow stars like Zendaya, Alan Cumming and Jamie Lee Curtis—calling it a “surreal” experience for which she is “really grateful.”
In fact, celebrating television’s biggest night brought to mind a late Hollywood icon that the actress would have loved to invite to an epic dinner party, like her character Patricia has become known for by fans of the Apple series.
As she put it, “She’s not here anymore, but I’d say Tina Turner.”
At the prestigious evening hosted by Mariska Hargitay, Widow’s Bay garnered 19 Emmy nods this year including O’Flynn’s costar Matthew Rhys being nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series.
Given the massive success of the show since its debut, fans are dying to know what’s in store for season two. Fortunately, Rhys has clued fans in that there are exciting new storylines are in the works—even if the actors aren’t aware of them yet.
“They’ve only been in the writers’ room about two weeks, and they call it the blue sky period, where they all throw in their ideas,” the 51-year-old told E! News in an exclusive interview in August. “And we’re like, ‘What are the ideas?’ And they wouldn’t tell us. And I’m usually the last to know because I do have a kind of a loudmouth.”

The series creator, Katie Dippold, also shared that she’s thrilled with the team of writers that she’s assembled as showrunner.
“The writers’ room just started this week, and it’s a great room,” the 46-year-old explained during a panel hosted by Collider at Comic-Con 2026 in July. “Then we’re going to be writing for the next 20 weeks.”
