Dezeen Showroom: Belgian designer Sarah Dehandschutter has expanded the catalogue of her lighting brand LLLL with the addition of two new sculptural pendant lamps.

Characterised by fluid, curvilinear metal frames wrapped in stretched knitted fabric, the lamps were designed to be hung vertically or horizontally in clusters to create dynamic lighting arrangements.

The LLLL.09 light has a rounded shape, while the LLLL.09.8 model has a more elongated silhouette, each available in three lengths: 800, 1,000 and 1,200 millimetres.

The lamps’ taut textile surfaces come in a choice of three neutral tones, through which light is diffused via a strip of LED light that surrounds the inner edges of the frame, creating a soft glow.

The lamps can be suspended in vertical or horizontal clusters to create contemporary chandeliers

Handmade in Belgium, the lights were designed to add a calming atmosphere to homes, hospitality and public interiors.

“Depending on the textile, the light shifts in character: a white-silver version paired with 2700K LEDs produces a neutral warmth, while a gold-toned fabric combined with 2300K LEDs creates a deeper, more atmospheric illumination,” said LLLL.

“The elements can be suspended using fine current-carrying steel cables, which provide both structural support and power, allowing the lamps to appear weightless and free of visible wiring,” it continued.

“When grouped, the overlapping membranes generate moiré effects and subtle visual movement as viewers pass by,”
