Formed in 2012 from humble beginnings as a group of friends simply walking together to rehearsal, Filipino alternative pop-rock band Walking with Genesis officially releases their heartfelt new single, “Palimos ng Pag-ibig,” now available across all streaming platforms. Distributed by Flamingo Music in cooperation with Curve Entertainment, the track arrives more than a decade after it was first written.
From Walks to Rehearsals: How It All Began
The band’s name tells its own story. Back when money was tight, founding members — including lead vocalist Genesis — would walk whatever distance necessary just to get to the studio, pooling whatever they could to book time. “Nilalakad lang namin kahit malayo, at least masaya kaming makatugtog,” shares rhythm guitarist and vocalist Franz. On one of those journeys home, they laughed at the fact that they were quite literally walking with Genesis — and the name stuck.
Through changing lineups and unexpected challenges, the group stayed together.
“Ganun pa man, nageenjoy kami sa music at bonding,” says Franz. Keyboardist Jano adds that keeping an open mind and giving every performance their all has always been their guiding principle.
Real Stories, Relatable Music
Drawing from alternative, pop-rock, and punk-rock influences, Walking with Genesis crafts songs that speak to the full spectrum of human emotion. “If you listen to our songs, you’ll catch different emotions — from love and joy to pain and loneliness,” explains lead guitarist Bhogz.
Lead vocalist Genesis writes from the heart, turning her own life experiences into lyrics listeners can see themselves in. “Palimos ng Pag-ibig” is a perfect example — penned back in 2013 about a first love who never knew how she felt. “Sa pagsulat ng kanta ko na lang nilalabas yung feelings ko sa kanya noon,” she shares. Life and careers got in the way, putting the song on hold for over 10 years, but now it’s finally being heard. It follows their 2025 comeback single “When See,” a love song Genesis wrote for her current partner.
New Chapter, New Video
This time around, the band is all in — including producing an official music video for the single. Filmed at a high school in Guiguinto, Bulacan, and featuring special appearances by Boss Yang, Armando, and Asian Pakboi, the video was conceptualized by Franz. “I think nagustuhan naman ng mga tao,” he says.
Known for their authentic, anything-can-happen live performances — once even playing a song unrehearsed live to great audience feedback — the band says their greatest joy is seeing fans sing their lyrics back to them.
Success = Staying Together
For Walking with Genesis, success isn’t measured by streams or milestones alone. As Genesis puts it: “Sulit na ang lahat kung patuloy kaming magkakasama, gumagawa ng music, at masaya sa ginagawa namin.”
“Palimos ng Pag-ibig” is now streaming on all major platforms. Released by Flamingo Music in cooperation with Curve Entertainment.
