The Surprising Place Reba McEntire Heard About Kelly Clarkson’s Feud With Art of Play Store
Consider Reba McEntire officially in the loop about Kelly Clarkson‘s feud with Art of Play.
After all, the “Consider Me Gone” singer learned of her former stepdaughter-in-law’s squabble with the Brooklyn-based novelty toy store over a mechanical bird named Molly while filming her NBC sitcom Happy’s Place.
“I just heard about it in the makeup trailer a while ago,” McEntire exclusively told E! News’ Will Marfuggi in a cast interview, with costar Melissa Peterman quipping to the country music legend that “I was the one who told you.”
Explaining their “long busy days” filming, Peterman continued, “It must be really out there if I’ve heard about it, because I’ve not been watching a ton of stuff and I’ve been working so much.”
Indeed, the Happy’s Place cast has been in their own bubble shooting season three, premiering Oct. 23. As McEntire—who was previously married to Narvel Blackstock, the father of Clarkson’s late ex-husband Brandon Blackstock—put it, “There’s a lot of love in this building.”
“It happens with great writing,” she continued of her longtime working relationship with Peterman, who also costarred in her early aughts sitcom Reba. “We just have fun coming up with new ways of delivering a line.”
The 71-year-old added, “For instance, we have some physical comedy on this episode we’re filming now, and I always look to her to see what we’re going to do because she can come up with some great ideas.”
It’s a sentiment shared by Peterman, who joked that she’s still “not sick” of working with McEntire.
“It’s great because there’s a comfort level,” the 55-year-old said. “We have a shorthand.”

The same now goes for their costar Belissa Escobedo, who initially felt like she was coming into an “established relationship” when she first joined the cast in 2024. But, as the 28-year-old explained, the cast and crew welcomed her with opened arms.
“I feel more comfortable now,” Escobedo shared. “I feel I have a place in this family now.”
Season three of Happy’s Place premieres on NBC on Oct. 23 and streams the next day on Peacock.
