LAPU-LAPU CITY, Philippines October 6, 2026 — The success of the third JKA Philippines event in Davao City has given organizers fresh momentum—and a new assignment. With the fourth edition now being prepared for June 2027 in Lapu-Lapu City, the team is returning to the drawing board to turn its next sporting vision into a carefully coordinated event.
Mr. Emeliano P. Murillo, CEO of JKA Philippines, is closely overseeing preparations, with the goal of building on the Davao event and delivering another successful gathering for karate practitioners and enthusiasts.
The forthcoming JKA Philippines National Event will combine the JKA International Gasshuku, Qualification and Dan Examination, and Tournament. Together, these activities will bring training, advancement, and competition into one program.
Preparatory discussions are already underway. PBGEN Ysmael S. Yu (Ret.), Liaison of JKA Philippines and Overall Head of the Preparation Committee, led the team together with Ramon Fernando, Jr., on a courtesy visit to discuss city coordination and support, including the proposed use of Hoopsdome.
The meeting also included Councilor Janvi Dela Serna, Sports Commissioner Vince Carungay, and SK Federation President OJ Carungay.
For JKA Philippines, the work between events is essential to the experience on the training floor and tournament mat. The coming months will allow organizers to develop arrangements that support the program and provide a welcoming setting for athletes and visitors.
The planned fourth edition also carries a broader purpose: encouraging young people to pursue sport with discipline and creating opportunities for cultural exchange through karate.
Lapu-Lapu City has welcomed the initiative and indicated its readiness to coordinate with the organizing team. Further announcements will provide the specific schedule, confirmed venue arrangements, and participation details as preparations advance.
