Interior designer Kate Marker has been named Mitzi’s latest Tastemaker, parent company Hudson Valley Lighting Group said. The collection will be unveiled at High Point Market next month.
Mitzi Tastemakers is a program that brings together a group of interior designers, artists, and creative voices to translate their individual points of view into original lighting collections.
Founder and principal designer of Chicago-based Kate Marker Interiors, Marker has spent more than two decades developing an aesthetic “rooted in approachable elegance, classic architecture and authentic living,” HVLG said in an announcement.
“The vision was to create lighting that feels timeless, warm and effortlessly versatile,” said Marker. “I wanted pieces that quietly elevate a room rather than overpower it. Throughout the design process, every decision came back to creating fixtures that designers and homeowners could use across many different styles of homes while still feeling distinctly Kate Marker.”
That sense of personal storytelling extends to the collection’s names themselves. Each family within the 25 SKUs is named for someone who has played a meaningful role in Marker’s life, including her children, nieces and nephews, grandparents, and other loved ones.
“Kate’s approach to design felt like such a natural fit for Mitzi,” said Jennifer Dubas, SVP of product design and development for HVLG. “Our team was thrilled to welcome her to our Tastemakers family, as we’ve all been long time admirers, and are excited to bring her warm, timeless perspective to life through this first collection.”
