Multi-talented performer and award-winning host Raymond Gorospe is stepping into the spotlight for his major solo concert, “Raymond Gorospe: My Story, My Music,” scheduled for October 2.
Having spent decades as a staple at corporate functions, high-society events, and intimate family gatherings, Gorospe lightheartedly describes himself as a singer “from birth till death” performing across every milestone from baptisms and birthdays to weddings and funerals. Produced by Ponti Entertainment Productions, the showcase marks a major milestone in his enduring career in the entertainment industry.
Describing the concert as “unfinished business,” Gorospe revealed that earlier plans to stage a major solo show were postponed years ago due to global events like the Gulf War. Holding the event in October carries deep personal meaning, as it honors his late mother’s birth month.
The project also represents a special family collaboration with his niece, singer-producer Isha Ponti, who selected Gorospe as her production company’s inaugural flagship project in recognition of his profound influence on their family’s artistic background.
Gorospe noted that collaborating with a younger creative team brought a fresh, tech-savvy approach to the staging, bridging two generations to produce the best of both worlds.
The concert’s repertoire serves as a musical autobiography, featuring the first song Gorospe performed at a high school debut, church choir selections, “The Promise” from his own wedding day, and “I Dreamed A Dream” from Les Misérables, which he competed with in the late 1990s. Beyond celebratory milestones, the setlist incorporates emotional pieces like “You Raise Me Up” and “Warriors at Heart” that reflect his personal resilience through difficult times. Gorospe candidly shared his experience of facing severe business losses right before the COVID-19 pandemic, emphasizing how the support of his family, Dragon Boat rowing teammates, and weekly Bible study group kept him grounded through life’s trials.
Acknowledging the reality that entertainers must often mask their personal hardships on stage to bring joy to their audiences, Gorospe aims to bring pure positive energy to the concert while sharing both the trials and triumphs of his career, including his Aliw Awards recognition and pursuit of a Grand Slam title for Best Male Host. The evening will feature a dynamic lineup of guest artists, including Miss Saigon star and close friend Ima Castro, veteran comedian Beverly Salviejo, Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist Madonna Decena, and a lot more.
Additionally, the showcase will include a dedicated tribute segment honoring three late friends and colleagues who passed away.
