BRUSSELS/TOKYO – Belgian-Japanese electro-pop duo Aili & Orson release “Achi Kochi”, out 11th September 2026 via cult Belgian indie dance label Eskimo Recordings. The first single from their forthcoming second album marks a subtle but significant artistic evolution for the duo: where their acclaimed debut ‘Nandakke?’ was a riot of neon-pop energy, ‘Achi Kochi’ hints at a more self-reflective direction—inventive yet introspective, urgent yet melancholic.

The Single: Juggling It All

“Achi Kochi” roughly translates to “all over the place”—a perfect encapsulation of the song’s theme. The looping Japanese vocals and motorik rhythms capture a feeling familiar to many: the exhausting necessity of keeping multiple plates spinning simultaneously. Family, friends, careers, hobbies, obligations—all demanding attention at once.

Despite lyrics sung entirely in Japanese, Aili & Orson once again dissolve language barriers, translating the song’s emotional landscape into pure musical feeling. The result is an intoxicating juxtaposition: energetic disco drums (courtesy of guest Lander Gyselinck) collide with dreamy synth pads and a hypnotic Moog bass line, creating a vibe that is simultaneously insistent and urgent, yet suffused with warmth and melancholy.

It’s a sonic carousel of stimulations—perfectly designed to be temporarily exorcised on the dancefloor.

Expanding Asian Presence

Following strong traction in Japan and growing recognition across Asia, Aili & Orson are positioned to expand their regional footprint significantly. The decision to sing “Achi Kochi” entirely in Japanese—rather than their typical bilingual approach—signals a deliberate deepening of their connection to Aili Maruyama’s heritage and Asian audiences.

The duo’s previous partnership with Tokyo’s creative label TOKA for a special Japanese edition of their debut EP ‘Dansu’ established them within Japan’s alternative music community. With the new album cycle beginning, they’re poised to become one of Europe’s most significant bridges to Asian electronic and indie-pop audiences.

About Aili & Orson

Aili & Orson is a Belgian-Japanese electro-pop duo consisting of Aili Maruyama and Orson Wouters. Forged in the Belgian alternative club scene and rooted in the nuances of Japanese culture, the duo seamlessly bridges two distinct sonic worlds. Their minimalist and colourful universe dissolves language barriers into pure, infectious energy.

Formed after a chance meeting in 2019, their instant musical chemistry led to a playful and spontaneous songwriting approach, blending electronic beats, samples, and Aili’s distinctive Japanese vocals.

Track Record: From Belgium to Global

Their debut EP ‘Dansu’ (2021) received widespread acclaim, spending 8 weeks at #1 on Belgium’s Radio 1 VOX list. The single quickly rippled across borders, attracting Tokyo’s TOKA label partnership for a special Japanese edition.

Their first full-length album ‘Nandakke?’ (Eskimo Recordings) propelled them onto the global stage. The record went straight to #1 on KCRW’s Top 30 Album Chart in the US, picked up heavy daytime rotation on KEXP, BBC Radio 6 Music, and Nova France, and earned placement across tastemaker playlists including Metropolis and Pollen.

Live Presence & Recent Tours

Live, Aili & Orson deliver a structured, high-energy storm. Beyond sold-out headline dates across Europe and Japan, they spent late 2024 supporting L’Impératrice on an extensive European tour, packing out iconic venues including L’Olympia Paris, Melkweg Amsterdam, and the Roundhouse London.

Upcoming Live Dates:

  • 22 October – Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), Amsterdam, Netherlands

March 2027

  • 10 March – Ancienne Belgique (AB) Brussels, Belgium (Headline Release Show)
