Singer-songwriter and producer Majarlica transforms a private diary entry into an introspective R&B/soul track about mistakes, lessons, and healing in her new single “Romantiko.”
Written and produced by Majarlica, whose real name is Angelica Tagadtad, “Romantiko” reflects on the experiences that shape a person’s understanding of love. What began as a personal reflection eventually became a song that celebrates growth, healing, and becoming ready for the kind of love one hopes to receive. StarPop label head Roque “Rox” Santos served as the track’s supervising producer.
Through her music, Majarlica embraces vulnerability as a source of strength, drawing from her own stories and emotions to create songs that are personal yet relatable.
“I write and perform songs close to my heart, celebrating the magic in everyday life. I find it empowering to be confidently vulnerable. Being Majarlica, to me, means embodying Filipina warriorness, reclaiming my voice through stories that are brave, imperfect, and deeply human,” she shared on social media.
One of StarPop’s new artists, Majarlica is a Canada-based media artist, filmmaker, and singer-songwriter born in Quezon City. Her diverse creative background allows her to explore different forms of storytelling, with music serving as one of her ways to turn personal experiences and observations into meaningful narratives.
Majarlica made her mark as a songwriter, writing songs for artists including Belle Mariano, Kai Montinola, Michelle Dee, and many more. She has also shared the stage with some of the Philippines’ well-loved OPM acts, opening for Parokya ni Edgar, Ben&Ben, and Itchyworms during their shows in Canada.
She began releasing her own music in 2023 with singles such as “Siguro” and “Patawarin Mo Ako.” She also released “Kalikasan,” an advocacy song created during her stint as Miss Philippines Earth Quezon City 2021. Her musical journey continued with “Royalty,” released last April as her first single under StarPop.
Beyond music, Majarlica is also a filmmaker and actress. She starred in the short film “We Shall Not Sleep (Ligaw, Digmaan),” further showcasing her passion for storytelling across different creative platforms.
