Kim Kardashian has opened the London flagship branch of her apparel brand SKIMS, featuring voluptuous interiors by New York studio Rafael de Cárdenas.

The store is characterised by the fleshy tones that have become synonymous with SKIMS, the minimalist shapewear and clothing brand launched by Kardashian and SKIMS CEO Jens Grede in 2019.

Spread over two levels on a corner site on Regent Street, the London flagship features a wide entrance where visitors are greeted by a towering female nude sculpture by artist and frequent SKIMS collaborator Vanessa Beecroft.

The sculpture is illuminated by an oversized disc that was fitted into the ceiling and framed by a rounded nude-coloured partition that nods to the rest of the store’s plump walls.

Rafael de Cárdenas designed a series of open-plan spaces throughout the shop, each defined by sinuous curves and shades of cream and beige.

Illuminated by another large light disc, the changing rooms have floor-to-ceiling mirrors that reflect a smooth pink pouffe and the recognisably bloated SKIMS logo engraved into the wall.

Throughout the store, pared-back cabinets containing apparel act as seats for cross-legged mannequins to perch on.

Rafael de Cárdenas was also responsible for the 2024 design of the SKIMS New York City flagship on Fifth Avenue, which follows a similar visual style.

Considering her first European bricks-and-mortar store, Kardashian said, “London has always been one of the most inspiring fashion cities in the world to me, so opening our first UK flagship on Regent Street feels especially exciting”.

In 2021, designer Willo Perrin conceived the first SKIMS pop-up store in Paris, which featured glossy partitions and chunky changing rooms.

The same year that Kardashian opened her New York flagship store, the SKIMS co-founder was sued by the non-profit foundation representing the late artist Donald Judd for claiming that two pieces of furniture in the office of her SKKN beauty brand were “Donald Judd tables”.
