A San Diego County man, Alejandri Gomez, was arrested after authorities discovered PVC pipes designed to look like explosives near several Carlsbad businesses, including McClellan-Palomar Airport. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office Bomb/Arson Unit responded to the scene on Thursday morning, evacuating the area and closing local roads. Gomez now faces charges of placing a false bomb and threatening to use a weapon of mass destruction.
