Dezeen Showroom: design brand OUT has released a Berlin-made chair and table set that aims to enhance the comfort and functionality of dining spaces.
Berlin-based brand OUT – whose unabbreviated name is Objekte Unserer Tage – describes the Linde chair as having the “comfort of an armchair, brought to the dining table”.
Each of its elements can be switched out to extend the piece’s lifespan. Users are also able to select from various base options and two upholstery styles – one smooth and one with a draped aesthetic named Linde Soft.
“At the beginning, there was the image of a blossoming flower,” said OUTS’s head of design David Wendt. “A form that opens, feels present, yet carries something very soft – I wanted to translate exactly that feeling into the chair.”
As well as having a monolithic and statuesque aesthetic, the Linde table’s thick cylindrical base and underside of the wooden tabletop double as an acoustic product thanks to their upholstered nature, which also results in a perfectly smooth surface broken up by chic seams.
“The seams are set into precisely milled channels, with a level of craftsmanship typically found in the interior of a luxury automobile,” said OUT. “This is where the technique comes from. Above, the tabletop in solid ash wood sits like a macaron, guiding the hand softly along its edge.”
Both pieces are designed in Berlin and made in Germany.
