Revival King Jojo Mendrez touched hearts with his moving performance of his latest single, “Yakap,” at the 17th PMPC Star Awards for Music, where he served as one of the guest performers.
“Yakap” is his reimagined take on the timeless romantic ballad first popularized by Junior in 1979. The song tells the story of returning blissfully to a loved one after enduring immense heartache and longing.
Jojo’s fresh remake dropped on digital platforms last May. Its official lyric video is up on ABS-CBN Star Music YouTube channel.
The song was composed by George Canseco, Junior, and Fernando Egea. Meanwhile, its new version was arranged by Tommy Katigbak, mixed and mastered by Dan Tanedo, and produced by ABS-CBN Music creatives, content, and operations head Jonathan Manalo.
Before “Yakap,” the philanthropic businessman and concert producer also released the songs “Nandito Lang Ako,” “Somewhere In My Past,” and “Valentine,” which have been featured on radio stations and digital platforms. He likewise dropped a Christmas single last year titled “Ngayong Pasko’y “Ikaw Pa Rin.”
