casa langosta opens near todos santos

Between the desert and the Pacific in Baja California Sur, Mexico, Casa Langosta sits low among cacti, scrub, and pale sand, with the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains holding the horizon behind it. The new Modernist-style residence, designed by architect Raquel Font of Studiofont, opens as the first flagship property by Nereidas, a hospitality concept built around design-led stays in distinct private houses.

Set ten minutes from the northern edge of Todos Santos, the property occupies an 8,000-square-meter plot near Agua Blanca, where the landscape shifts between dry terrain and open ocean views. The house brings together three bedrooms, a commercial-grade kitchen, and a shared outdoor area with a 180-square-meter swimming pool, a dining zone, a custom grill, and a fireplace lounge arranged across two-level platforms.

Mexico City-based architect Raquel Font works with strong volumes and open geometries, using rustic pink concrete to give the Nereidas-run Casa Langosta a tone that feels drawn from the surrounding earth. Each bedroom is shaped through triangular outlines and curved walls, with floor-to-ceiling windows framing the cacti and desert beyond.

The rooms are built with integrated furniture, including closets and beds, so the architecture carries through to the way the house is occupied. Natural ventilation is part of the plan, while the bedroom volumes create a more enclosed rhythm before opening out toward the pool and shared areas.

The main communal space turns around a cylindrical volume that holds the pool, extending into a concrete structure with a long view across Mexico’s desert toward the ocean. From above, the house reads as a set of simple forms placed within the vegetation, with the pool cutting a soft circle into the harder lines of concrete.

Inside, Niños Heroes brings together vintage and contemporary pieces with a collector’s eye. Original Don Shoemaker lounge chairs sit alongside a single-edition Silla Tropical by Fabian Cappelo, dining chairs by Oscar Hagermann, lamps by Jasper Morrison and Miguel Milá, and bespoke fiberglass works by Sardina.

nereidas brings hospitality with a local pace

Casa Langosta is fully staffed, with breakfast, turndown service, 24-hour security, and concierge planning included in the stay. Guests can arrange regional experiences through Nereidas, from cooking classes to horseback rides through the Agua Blanca mountains.

The property also runs on solar energy and uses a water reuse system. During construction, plants moved from the site were replanted, keeping the plot visually tied to the endemic flora that gives this part of Baja California Sur its rough beauty.
