Dezeen Showroom: designer Monica Armani combined modern refinement with the curved motifs of Art Nouveau in this range of outdoor furniture for Italian brand Flexform.
Armani and Flexform aimed to hearken back to the Belle Époque with the Margherì range, evoking a time when beauty was at the centre of the decorative arts and the garden was a place for carefree leisure.
“Today that spirit returns in a contemporary design project: lines clearly defined but with restraint, welcoming dimensions, calibrated proportions,” said Flexform.
Including standalone and modular sofas, daybeds and dining chairs, the collection is built around slender tubular stainless steel frames curved into petal-like shapes that form the wraparound back.
Woven cord details made of outdoor-friendly polypropylene add an extra layer of tactility and provide an extra opportunity to play with colour, alongside the epoxy powder-coated frame and textile upholstery.
The palette features a wide choice of earthy neutrals and deep nature-informed tones, helping create sophisticated outdoor furniture pieces.
