Louis Tomlinson Reveals the One Direction Song He Never Liked Performing
A documentarian who’s been working with Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson is providing a little direction into rumors of a reignited feud.
Nicola Marsh—the director of an upcoming Netflix docuseries following the One Direction alums—weighed in on a report that Zayn, 33, and Louis, 34, had gotten into a physical fight while filming the project, resulting in the former bandmates allegedly falling out once again.
Sharing an image of The Sun‘s recent issue with the front page headline reading “Louis Punched by Zayn,” Nicola wrote on her Instagram Story April 18, per a screenshot published by The Independent, “And there goes the last year of work.”
E! News has reached out to reps of Zayn and Louis but hasn’t heard back.
Amid the rumored drama, eagled-eyed fans also noticed that Louis has unfollowed Zayn on Instagram. However, the “Back to You” singer is still following Harry Styles, Niall Horan and the account of the late Liam Payne.
Meanwhile, Zayn—who was recently hospitalized for an undisclosed health scare—continues to follow Louis on the social media platform.
And the duo indeed have history together. Shortly after Zayn departed from 1D in 2015, Louis lashed out at his fellow The X Factor alum in a heated social media exchange.
Their estrangement went on for years, with Louis admitting in 2022 that “neither of us have each other’s number.”
“I don’t think I’m mature enough to get over what’s frustrated me in that relationship,” he told The Zach Sang Show at the time. “I don’t know if I’m mature enough now, but I’m definitely closer to being over all that.”
Still, Louis was open to a reconciliation, explaining that “there’s been numerous times over the last couple of years where I’ve thought about him and hoped he’s alright.”
“But it’s hard,” he continued. “I definitely wish him well.”

The pair eventually crossed paths—albeit amid tragedy—when they joined Harry and Niall, both 32, at a funeral for Liam in 2024. Louis and Zayn also put on a united front in a statement about Liam’s death, sharing that they were “completely devastated” by his passing.
“The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever,” the surviving members of 1D said in their joint Instagram post. “We will miss him terribly.”
They added, “We love you Liam.”
