First Look at Verity’s Anne Hathaway and Josh Hartnett on Set of Colleen Hoover Movie

Alex Cooper is heading to the big screen.

The Call Her Daddy podcast host is adding another gig to her resume, with a role in the movie adaptation of Colleen Hoover‘s book Verity.

A first look of the film was revealed at CinemaCon on April 15, showing Cooper interviewing fictional author Verity Crawford (Anne Hathaway), according to Deadline

And though the 31-year-old will be playing herself in the upcoming drama, the role does mark her acting debut.

In Verity, author Lowen Ashleigh (Dakota Johnson) is tasked with taking over the manuscript of Verity’s next book after she’s involved in an accident.

But things take a dark turn in the teaser when Lowen notices Verity watching her through the windows while she’s staying at her house, leading to hallucinations of their characters kissing and an emotional moment where Lowen tries to escape the home, per Deadline.

Verity—which is set to premiere on Oct. 2—is not the only topic that has put Cooper in the news this week.

She’s also been involved in a feud with Alix Earle—and their beef recently came to a head after Earle reposted an April 9 TikTok which likened Cooper to an “ambulance chaser” and “grim reaper” due to the traumatic stories celebrities share on her podcast.

Following the repost, Cooper hit back in an April 13 TikTok and challenged Earle to “get specific and just say what you got to say about me.”

“Stop hiding behind other people and just say it yourself,” she said in the video. “What’s the beef? Because I’m really tired of waking up and seeing you using this big drama to distract from other s–t going online for you. Not interested, I know what happened, and so do you.”

Earle, 25, promised to spill the tea soon, writing in the comments under Cooper’s video, “Okay on it!!” The Dancing With the Stars alum also shared a TikTok on April 14, revealing her reaction to Cooper’s video that she said “literally made my whole day.”

Fellow content creator Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia even got in on the drama, publicly siding with Earle in her own set of TikTok videos on April 15.

And as the accusations continue to fly across social media, Cooper has maintained that “this is not a pr stunt.”

August 2023: Welcome to Unwell

Call Her Daddy host Alex Cooper launched The Unwell Network, signing on TikToker Alix Earle as one of the media production company’s first talents to “develop a variety of multiplatform concepts and projects.”

“Alix took the U.S. by storm with her ‘get ready with me’ videos, college lifestyle, and endearing personality,” Cooper said in a press release at the time. “I feel honored to be at a place in my career where I can pass along knowledge and advice for a new generation of creators to flourish.”

Earle’s Hot Mess podcast premiered the following month.

August 2024: Call Her a Dealmaker

As her three-year contract with Spotify came to an end, Cooper inked a deal with SiriusXM reportedly worth $125 million to bring The Unwell Network—including Call Her Daddy and Cooper’s Hot Mess podcast—to the broadcaster.

February 2025: Dropping Hot Mess

Shortly after Earle skipped Unwell’s Super Bowl party in New Orleans despite being in town for the big game, news broke that her Hot Mess podcast had been dropped by the company.

In addition, SiriusXM reportedly renounced its rights to the show and stopped selling ads for the program.

March 2025: Get Ready for Drama

Earle hinted at possible tension behind her departure from Unwell, announcing a “pause on podcasting right now for the foreseeable future.”

“Don’t really want to get into the details of it all, and I kind of can’t get into the details of it all right now,” she said in a March 26 TikTok, “but I’ve loved it so much, and I’m really proud of what I built with the podcast.”

However, Cooper was quick to shut down speculation that Earle’s podcasting hiatus had to do with Unwell, insisting that the influencer retained the Hot Mess property in the split.

“Idk why she can’t/what’s going on,” Cooper wrote on Instagram Story that same day. “Unwell gave her everything back she owns her IP.”

Summer 2025: Tea Is Brewing

Earle continued to play coy about what went down in her exit from Unwell, teasing in a May 2025 interview with the WSJ. Magazine, “That was, behind the scenes, a little bit of a hot mess.”

And when a fan begged her to “tell us what happened with Alex Cooper” in an August 2025 TikTok, Earle cryptically wrote back, “How much time do you have?”

April 13, 2026: Called Out

Cooper slammed Earle for acting “passive aggressive” on social media, bluntly telling her in a TikTok video, “You’re going to need to get specific and just say what you got to say about me. There’s no NDA, no one is stopping you.”

“What’s the beef? Because I’m really tired of waking up and seeing you using this big drama to distract from other s–t going online for you,” Cooper continued. “So talk, unless the fake narrative that you’re creating happens to be way more interesting than the truth, I have nothing to hide when it comes to you and me.”

In response, Earle simply commented, “Okay on it!!”

April 15, 2026: Team Alix

Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia, who worked with Cooper’s former Barstool Sports boss Dave Portnoy on the BFFs podcast, threw her support for Earle once their feud went public.

“I was a fan of Alex Cooper before I knew the wrath of f–king Alex Cooper,” she said in a TikTok video, “and what she does to people and how she treats people.”

LaPaglia went on to allege that she had gotten the tea about the Hot Mess drama two years prior, saying, “From what Alix Earle told me, Alex Cooper is a very, very mean person.”

April 15, 2026: “Mean Girl”

Cooper clapped back at LaPaglia after being accused of being a “mean girl,” writing on Instagram Stories, “Here are the facts. I have never met you in my life. The only communication we have ever had together is through dm.”

To back up her point, the Unwell founder posted screenshots of their alleged private correspondence over the years, in which the two traded kind words, as well as exchanged numbers and party invites.

“What I just showed is the only interaction we’ve ever had. And you hate me?” Cooper added. “That has never been the nature of our relationship.”
