‘Bob’s Burgers’ Actor Eugene Mirman Hospitalized After Fiery Car Crash

Eugene Mirman is recovering from a near-death experience.

The Bob’s Burgers star, who’s voiced Eugene Belcher in over 300 episodes of the beloved animated series, was hospitalized after being pulled from the fiery wreckage of a New Hampsire car crash on March 31.

“Eugene was in a very scary car accident,” Mirman’s rep told Variety in an April 1 statement. “He wants to thank the bystanders, state police, first responders and hospital staff who saved him. He is grateful to be on the mend.”

The spokesperson added, “At this time, we kindly ask for privacy for Eugene and his family as he focuses on recovering from his injuries.”

The crash occurred around 11:55 a.m., when a 2026 Lucid Gravity driven by Mirman, 51, struck Bedford Toll Plaza, according to a New Hampshire State Police press release. Authorities said 911 callers indicated that the car caught fire and “someone in the vehicle appeared to be trapped.”

As officers rushed to the scene, a veteran state trooper assigned to New Hampshire Governor Kelly Ayotte‘s security detail came upon the crash and jumped into action, pulling Mirman from the burning car through a window, per police.

The voice actor, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries, according to authorities. Police said they are choosing not to identify Mirman’s rescuer by name “due to the nature of their position.”

A cause of the crash has not been disclosed. No charges have been filed at this time, but authorities noted that the crash remains under investigation.

Still, the community praised the good Samaritan, with NHSP Colonel Mark B. Hall sharing in a statement, “Certainly, their actions were heroic in what they did.”

“Without hesitation,” he continued, “they put themselves in danger to render aid to someone who was in need of it.”

Ayotte also showed her appreciation. “I want to thank the Trooper on my security detail and the bystanders who stepped up to help at the scene of the crash for their brave lifesaving efforts today,” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on March 31, adding that she and her husband Joseph Daley “are praying for the full recovery of the driver who was injured today.”

Ayotte added in an April 1 post, “It’s an example of the great work first responders do each day to keep New Hampshire safe and how Granite Staters always step up to help someone in need.”
