February 01, 2026 – Taytay, Rizal, Philippines

Men and women, young and old — with or without teeth — as long as they were wearing a duster, everyone was welcome to join!

The vibrant spirit of unity and pride once again filled the streets of Taytay during the much-anticipated DUSTER Fun Run, a colorful community event led by the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion Office (LEDIPO) in partnership with Taytay Gays in Society (TGIS).

More than just a fun run, the event served as a meaningful tribute to Taytay’s thriving garment industry. Participants proudly wore the iconic duster, a simple yet powerful symbol of the town’s identity as the Garments Capital of the Philippines. Families, workers, entrepreneurs, youth groups, and various sectors came together in a shared celebration of local industry, health, and unity.

Originally launched in 2013 during the administration of former Mayor Janet de Leon Mercado, the DUSTER Fun Run has since grown into one of Taytay’s signature events. By transforming the humble duster into the centerpiece of a festive and inclusive activity, the initiative continues to promote local products while strengthening community pride and economic awareness.

This year, the DUSTER Fun Run was once again featured as part of the HAMAKA Festival 2026, under the leadership of Mayor Allan de Leon. The festival celebrates Taytay’s rich cultural heritage and strong local industries, with the fun run standing out as one of its most energetic highlights. The event concluded with a lively Grand Zumba session at Kalayaan Park, where participants danced, laughed, and celebrated together — perfectly embodying the campaign spirit of “Smile Taytay.”

Special thanks and sincere appreciation are extended to Mayor Allan de Leon for his continued leadership and commitment to programs that uplift local industries and strengthen community engagement. Gratitude is also given to Atty. Dustin Regalado, LEDIPO Officer-in-Charge, for his dedicated support and guidance in ensuring the success of this meaningful initiative.

Through activities like the DUSTER Fun Run, Taytay not only promotes health and wellness but also reinforces its commitment to economic growth, cultural pride, and community solidarity.

Indeed, it was more than just a race — it was a joyful stride forward for Taytay and its people.

Let’s Smile, Taytay!
