House for Two Musicians, Portugal, by Atelier Matteo Arnone

Italian studio Atelier Matteo Arnone designed a symmetrical home with minimalist white walls for two DJs in Portugal.

Inside, a pair of semicircular recording studios on the upper level jut into the double-height bedroom and living space below, which were placed on either side of a central courtyard.

Terracotta Breath, Vietnam, by Live Out Studio

Terracotta Breath is a multi-generational house in Vietnam that was designed by architecture practice Live Out Studio as a “home that breathes”.

It contains two residences separated by a narrow courtyard, with reddish-brown facades made from perforated brick and clay render.

Patio House, Spain, by Arquitectura-G

Folding timber shutters open onto a central courtyard with a pool at Patio House in Costa Brava, which was designed by Spanish studio Arquitectura-G.

Aiming to create a home with simple geometry, Arquitectura-G nestled the single-storey home into the sloped site, wrapping two L-shaped wings around the square-shaped courtyard.

Bondi House, Australia, by Nick Kent Design

Local studio Nick Kent Design applied translucent polycarbonate screens and metal louvres to this home in Sydney, aiming to create an interesting play of light and shadow.

Its structure was made from a lightweight metal frame so the internal and external walls could be non-load-bearing, allowing for the home to be easily reconfigured in the future.

Casa Guapuruvus, Brazil, by Cornetta Arquitetura

Nestled in the Atlantic Forest outside of São Paulo, Brazilian studio Cornetta Arquitetura designed this prefabricated holiday home to make as little impact on the native flora as possible.

Raised above the forest floor on a concrete and masonry base, Casa Guapuruvus was constructed from a combination of glued-laminated timber, nailed-laminated timber, black metal columns and light-steel framing walls.
