PALA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — A young girl is safe and back home after suffering a medical emergency on Halloween night on the Pala Indian Reservation, authorities said Saturday.

According to the Valley Center Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 9:05 p.m. on Oct. 31 to reports of a juvenile experiencing a seizure. The child had been trick-or-treating earlier that evening, and her parents initially expressed concern about possible exposure to an unknown substance.

Deputies and paramedics arrived at the scene and quickly began providing aid. Officials say there were no signs of drug involvement, and the incident appears to have stemmed from an undiagnosed medical condition.

The child was airlifted by medical helicopter to Rady Children’s Hospital for further evaluation. Hospital staff later confirmed that the emergency was not related to narcotics, and the juvenile has since been released to her family in stable condition.

The sheriff’s office thanked community members for staying alert and sharing information about potential risks on Halloween night.
