SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The holiday season is only a few weeks away which means the U.S. Postal Service is expecting an influx of shipments.

To help ensure packages get to their intended destinations, USPS is looking for holiday assistants to help them with sorting duties in post offices from San Bernardino to San Diego and the east desert communities.

USPS aims to fill about 120 temporary positions for two periods of temporary holiday assignments. The first period will run from Nov. 1 to Dec. 12 and the second will run from Nov. 15 to Dec. 26.

Temporary holiday “elves” will be paid $20.59 an hour.

Hiring events were held in San Diego and San Bernardino counties on Oct. 9 and 16.

Another opportunity for interested candidates to learn more and apply for the positions will be held on Thursday, Oct. 23 at the following locations:

Bonita Post Office
5073 Central Ave
Bonita, CA 91902

Carlsbad Post Office
1700 Aviara PKWY
Carlsbad, CA 92009

Escondido Post Office
1157 W Mission Ave
Escondido, CA 92025

The hiring events will be held between 10 a.m. and noon. People can also apply for open positions through the USPS website.
