Marcos: Gov't looking for alternative teaching ways amid suspension of classes

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said Thursday the government is looking for alternative learning measures for students amid the bad weather. 

Marcos said this as classes in all levels have been suspended in the past days due to heavy rains and floods that hit Metro Manila and most of Luzon provinces. 

“Lahat ng pinupuntahan ko eh walang pasok, papaano ngayon itong ating mga kabataan. Kailangan naman natin… lugi sila,” Marcos said. 

(The places I’ve visited have suspended their classes … how will this affect the youth … they will be at a loss.)

“We’re finding alternative ways, teaching ways para sa ating mga bata, sa ating mga estudyante (for our students),” he added. 

For July 24, classes in all levels have been suspended in the National Capital Region and most of Luzon provinces as heavy rains continue to threaten the region.

The Department of Education has enforced the Dynamic Learning Program (DLP) initiative, which is designed to address class disruptions caused by natural disasters and other challenges “by promoting independent, resource-efficient learning.”

Affected schools will have the flexibility to conduct make-up classes and utilize DLP learning activity sheets in temporary learning spaces. 

These activity sheets are designed to be “simple, targeted, and adaptable,” said the agency.  — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
