Fox Sports’ Mark Sanchez Arrested After Stabbing Incident in Indianapolis
UPDATE: Mark Sanchez is facing a new setback.
The former NFL player was arrested in hospital on misdemeanor charges of battery with injury, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle and public intoxication, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department shared in a statement on X Oct. 4. He remains in hospital and has yet to be formally processed by authorities.

Mark Sanchez is recovering after a chilling encounter.
The Fox Sports broadcaster, who played as a quarterback in the NFL from 2009 to 2018, is âin stable conditionâ after suffering injuries which resulted in him being hospitalized in Indianapolis Oct. 4.
âWe are deeply grateful to the medical team for their exceptional care and support,â the network said in a statement on X (formerly Twitter) Oct. 4. âOur thoughts and prayers are with Mark, and we ask that everyone please respect his and his familyâs privacy during this time.â
Sanchezâs agent Andrew Kessler confirmed his clientâs condition, telling CBS News, âThat is really all I know and can say.â
The 38-year-old was in the city to call Foxâs coverage of the Oct. 5 game between the Indianapolis Colts and the Las Vegas Raiders.
Local authorities said they are investigating a âphysical disturbanceâ involving âtwo adult males, resulting in one man receiving lacerations and the other sustaining injuries consistent with stab wounds,â according to a statement from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
While the bureau did not identify the individuals, detectives noted that the matter appeared to be an âisolated incident between the two men.â No arrests have been made in the case.

Sanchezâwho is dad to 6-month-old twins with wife Perry Mattfeld as well as son Daniel, 8, from a previous relationshipâplayed for the New York Jets for five seasons after being selected as the fifth overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. He went on to play for the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bears before ending his playing career in Washington in 2018.
In the wake of Sanchezâs injury, the Jets sent him well-wishes on social media.
