3 Members of TLC’s Meet the Putmans Family Killed in Car Accident
The Putmans’ nightmare is still ongoing.
The stars of TLC’s Meet the Putmans shared an update after multiple family members sustained injuries in a Michigan car crash that killed patriarch Bill “Papa” Putman, matriarch Barb “Neenee” Putman and daughter-in-law Megan Putman.
Megan’s husband Blake Putman and kids Noah, 15, Lulu, 13, and Alena, 11, were also hospitalized, with Noah remaining sedated, according to an update shared to their Instagram Sept. 28.
“We are so grateful to see that he is responding to us with movement,” they wrote. “Every small sign reminds us that God is at work and hearing our prayers.”
Their niece Gia Putman—the 11-year-old daughter of Brandon and Kacie Putman—was also hospitalized in the accident and underwent a craniotomy, a surgery to remove part of the skull to access the brain, on Sept. 27.
“We are thankful to report that her care team shared some encouraging news, her brain pressure has gone down significantly,” her family said in the statement. “This is a powerful reminder that God’s hand is on her, guiding her healing every step of the way.”
Amid the tragedy, the Putmans—whose family of 26 all lived together in the 2017 TLC show—shared how they are navigating their unimaginable grief.
“Through it all, we continue to hold tightly to our faith, knowing that God has a plan and a purpose for everything,” the message continued. “Even in the hardest moments, He is present, working in ways we may not yet understand.”
“Thank you all for the continued prayers, love, and support,” they added. “We feel your strength and faith surrounding us. Please keep lifting Noah and Gia up as they heal.”
The deadly crash took place north of Detroit, Mich., on the night of Sept. 26, according to the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office told NBC News that a loaded semi-truck failed to stop at a stop sign and hit a Jeep carrying eight people. Three died at the scene.
The driver of the semi-truck, as well as a passenger, suffered minor injuries and were taken to a hospital. The driver has been arrested, according to the authorities.
