SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The San Diego County Medical Examiner has identified the motorcyclist who died on Interstate 15 and State Route 163 over the weekend.

Elijah Welsh, 30, of San Diego, died on Saturday, Sept. 20, after the motorcycle he was riding on I-15 at the SR-163 southbound connector hit a concrete barrier, throwing him from the bike, the medical examiner reports.

Witnesses pulled over and called 911 just before 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Officers found Welsh with critical injuries and took him to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The highway was closed to all traffic for around three hours after the crash Saturday evening.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is investigating the circumstances of the deadly motorcycle crash.
