SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI)– A ground stop was issued Wednesday at San Diego International Airport for all flights.

All inbound flights are currently being diverted to other airports, according to the airport’s Communications Program Director, Jonathan Heller.

The incident occurred around 6:40 p.m., as all inbound flights to SAN are being held at their origin until 8 p.m., according to FlightAware.

The ground stop is due to a disabled aircraft on the runway, which experienced an emergency after its nose gear collapsed, per the Federal Aviation Administration.

According to Heller, “The aircraft came to a stop without any injuries to those on board; however, it became disabled on the runway, causing the runway’s temporary closure.”

Delays for departing flights are estimated to be around two hours and may increase, according to FlightAware. The arrival delay for flights that are currently airborne is estimated to be around 50 minutes.

All United Airlines flights have been cancelled as of 7:40 p.m.
