Chances of t&storms linger in parts of the county as highs begin to cool thumbnail

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI)— Monsoon action is possible for the first half of the work week, especially in the mountains and deserts, but daily highs will begin to cool.

Saturday and Sunday monsoon showers impacted San Diego County, leaving some parts of the county with more than 0.31 inches of precipitation.

48-Hour Precipitation totals (as of 3 p.m.):
Julian: 0.31″
Cameron Guard Station (near Boulder Oaks): 0.28″
Volcan Mountain: 0.28″
Encinitas: 0.08″
Ranchita: 0.05″

NWS reports that some areas may see moderate rainfall rates of 0.50 to 0.75 inches per hour on Monday afternoon.

KUSI Weather models show that storms could impact the mountains around 11:30 a.m., but the most activity appears to be around 1:30 p.m. over Mount Laguna.

NWS added that the storms may involve heavy downpours, minor flooding, small hail and gusty winds.

By Tuesday, highs will be near average or a few degrees below.
