How Coco Gauff Manifested Her 2025 French Open Win
Coco Gauff is back in the New York groove.
Indeed, after winning the 2023 US Open, the Grand Slam champion is ready for what this year’s competition will bring.
“New York is always an event I do well in, just being an American and to have won it two years ago,” Coco, 21, exclusively told E! News in an Aug. 20 interview. “I’m very excited. The energy in this city and the US Open is like no other. I’m super excited to compete.”
“I’m enjoying these build-up days,” she added. “Every year I always have something going on, so I enjoy interacting with the supporters. The fan interaction is the thing I’m most excited for on and off the court.”
But their support isn’t the only thing keeping her energized as she preps for the tournament. To kick off the action, Coco celebrated the release of her first-ever Naked Protein Pineapple Orange smoothie at her Coco’s Corner pop-up in Soho Aug. 20. Inspired by her mom Candi Gauff‘s fruit salad—which went viral in 2023—the drink has become a courtside staple for the tennis star.
“It feels surreal to have my own smoothie with Naked,” Coco shared. “But I’m really excited for everyone to get a chance to try it and for all the New Yorkers to come out and see the corner store.”
For Coco, the key ingredients to the “super smoothie” are a combination of the fruit salad and the three drinks she reaches for on and off the court.

“Pretty much every time my mom makes it, she puts pineapple in it. I just like it ’cause it’s super sweet,” Coco said. “That was the main inspiration. But there’s protein in it—which for me is important, being an athlete—and electrolytes and coconut water. It’s the best of both worlds of tasting good and healing the body.”
And aside from delivering hydration to fans, she hopes she can deliver more viral moments at the US Open alongside some of the biggest names in tennis.
In fact, she’s trying to get her idol Venus Williams to make a cameo.
“I’m gonna try. I’m a bit nervous to ask her,” she revealed. “If I have enough confidence, we’ll do it. If it’s not up by Saturday, just know that I succumbed to my confidence.”
