WNDR San Diego to close its doors with final farewell bash

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — After two years of bringing immersive art experiences to San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter, WNDR San Diego has announced it will officially close its doors on Monday, Sept. 1.

The interactive museum, known for blending technology and art into multi-sensory exhibits, shared the news Friday, thanking the community for its continued curiosity and creativity since opening.

“We’re very proud of what we got to accomplish these last few years,” said Kadija Alzate, General Manager of WNDR San Diego. “We hope that the San Diego community continues to celebrate the rich, diverse arts community in this city and that what WNDR stands for continues to live on in our guests.”

To commemorate its final weeks, WNDR will host one last community celebration on Saturday, Aug. 30. The “Farewell Bash” will run from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and is being organized in partnership with Sew Loka, a local creative studio led by artist and entrepreneur Claudia Rodriguez-Biezunski who previously collaborated with WNDR on a successful International Women’s Day market in March.

“We are going to have a lot of fun having the last event at WNDR and look forward
to bringing in people to such a creative space, supporting all mediums of art,” said Rodriguez-Biezunski. “I’ve really appreciated WNDR giving us the opportunity to always think outside the box.”

The evening will feature local vendors, live DJ sets from Beazie Beats, and immersive art installations — all part of a vibrant send-off designed to honor the museum’s impact on San Diego’s art scene.

WNDR Museum first opened its San Diego location in 2023 as part of a growing network of immersive art spaces around the country. The exhibit has since hosted a variety of local artists, community initiatives, and thought-provoking installations.
