Dezeen Showroom: technology and functionality combine in Spanish brand Neolith‘s sintered stone, a practical alternative to both quartz and natural granite.

Neolith specialises in sintered stone, a type of engineered stone that is made with no binders. It is manufactured by heating natural raw minerals to such a high temperature that they fuse together, mimicking processes that occur in nature.

Neolith’s sintered stone is made from all-natural raw materials

While the texture is similar to quartz or granite, sintered stone has advantages over granite by being lighter, nonporous and scratch-resistant, and over quartz in its resistance to high temperatures.

Neolith describes it as a “pioneering architectural surface with superior technical characteristics”, and prioritises sustainability in its production, recycling up to 100 per cent of the water used in manufacturing and relying on renewable energy.

It is available in a wide range of styles

Some of its models, which represent a wide range of natural colours and styles, are also made with up to 98 per cent recycled materials.

Neolith recommends sintered stone for use both indoors and outdoors and for a wide range of applications, from floors and walls in kitchens and bathrooms to facades and furnishings.
