Dezeen Showroom: a collection of linen-blend fabrics defined by earthy colourways and textures has been developed by Belgian brand Designs of the Time.
The Ausarta fabric collection evokes the landscape of an isolated island, with references to materials such as stone, clay and sand but also the qualities of light, atmosphere and “the promise of the horizon”.
Earthy hues and muted jewel tones meet in the fabrics, many of which are decorated with unusual patterns formed through the use of creative weaving methods.
“The materials skilfully play with light and shadow through textured linen blends that catch the breeze and create ever-changing patterns,” said Designs of the Time.
The Ausarta fabric collection includes the linen drapery fabric Aldati. Named after an engraving by Eduardo Chillida, it echoes the sense of dynamism in that work with its irregular, slightly three-dimensional and multi-tonal weave.
Other styles feature gradients of colour, such as the pure-linen Marés with its subtle check pattern and the linen blend Elogio with its hazy tonal shifts.
