The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office released the identity of the person who was hit and killed by a car in the South Bay Monday afternoon.

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office released the identity of the person who was hit and killed by a car in the South Bay Monday afternoon.

According to the medical examiner’s office, Bisael Lopez Hernandez, 46, was working as a landscaper in the 4200 block of Bonita Road when a man suspected of driving impaired lost control of his vehicle around 2:30 p.m.

The car, a Toyota Prius, was headed east when it crossed into oncoming traffic, hit a parked vehicle and left the roadway, striking Lopez Hernandez, authorities stated.

Responding paramedics confirmed Lopez Hernandez’s death without medical intervention.

The driver of the Prius was identified as Alexander Heydari, 28. He was arrested Monday on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and vehicular manslaughter while impaired.

Heydari was not injured in the crash, according to police.
