The City of San Diego, in conjunction with San Diego Fleet Week, is hosting a 250th birthday celebration of the United States Navy and Marine Corps.

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The City of San Diego, in conjunction with San Diego Fleet Week, is hosting a 250th birthday celebration of the United States Navy and Marine Corps.

The event will take place at Broadway Pier on Nov. 6 from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

“San Diego is home to the largest concentration of Navy personnel in the country. Their presence defines our city’s identity,” said Mayor Todd Gloria. “Few places are so closely connected to the Marine Corps and Navy as San Diego.”

Veteran associations and community groups are helping put the event together, which will include live music, food, aerial flyovers, guest speakers, ship tours and more.

“I have to say as mayor of this great city we would not be the world class city we are if it wasn’t for the presence of the United States Navy and Marine Corps. This is an opportunity to remember that and celebrate that,” Gloria said.
