Dezeen Showroom: combining zoning, acoustic management and aesthetic appeal, the Pi workspace furniture system is Spanish furniture brand Kettal‘s solution to busy open offices.
Pi is a flexible space organisation system based on H-shaped units that provide sheltered areas without fully enclosing any section of the layout.
The system provides three categories of configurations: Focus for concentrated work zones, Meet for collaboration areas, and a third catch-all category that is adaptable to needs such as printing stations or kitchenettes.
The Pi system is made up of recycled PET panels, which have a textile-like surface that Kettal says bring a soft and sophisticated aesthetic into the workplace.
The material also has the benefit of improving acoustic comfort by absorbing disruptive noises – enough so that Kettal encourages the system’s use for phone booths, video conferencing rooms and reading corners, even though they are not enclosed.
The Pi system is designed for quick installation, and units can be added, combined or adjusted as time goes on.
