Dezeen Showroom: Lithos tile collection, designed by Italian brand Casalgrande Padana, are informed by the classic look of Portland stone.
The Lithos tile combines the durability and easy care of porcelain stoneware with the distinguished appearance of a stone that defines some of the grandest buildings in the world.
Portland stone, a limestone quarried on the English coast in Dorset, is the building material of the Palace of Westminster, the Tower of London and even the the UN headquarters in New York.
Casalgrande Padana describes it as a timeless and “powerfully expressive” stone and makes its Lithos tile available in six shades and sizes.
The smaller tiles are nine millimetres thick with an anti-slip surface and the new R10 natural finish, while the larger tiles are available in a choice of natural, satin and grip finishes.
Casalgrande Padana says the natural finish offers a delicate tactile sensation, while the satin finish is “extraordinarily soft” with a natural, matt look.
