‘ANIMALS’ Starring Ben Affleck Drops Official Trailer & Key Art

“Animals” Preview: Ben Affleck Returns—And the Kidnapping Thriller Gets Personal. Streaming October 9, only on Netflix!

Netflix is bringing pressure-cooker suspense to your screen on October 9 with “Animals,” a tightly wound thriller starring Ben Affleck alongside Kerry Washington and Gillian Anderson. Directed by Affleck, the film leans into the kind of escalating paranoia that turns everyday people into desperate decision-makers—especially when the clock starts counting down for their family.

The Hook: A Ransom Plan Built on Lies

At the center of “Animals” is a nightmare scenario: a Los Angeles mayoral candidate and his wife watch their world snap in half when their son is kidnapped. What follows isn’t just a scramble for cash—it’s a descent into a web of deception where every demand raises new questions, and every answer feels like a trap.

The logline sums it up perfectly: as they attempt to raise the ransom, the couple is forced into choices that don’t just test their morals—they expose secrets that could shatter everything they’ve built.

Affleck Takes the Helm—and Turns the Screws

Fans of Affleck’s on-screen intensity will find it echoed behind the camera. With Ben Affleck directing, the film carries an immediate sense of stakes and control—then gradually loses both. The story’s tension feels designed to keep tightening, pushing characters toward increasingly consequential choices rather than simple twists.

If you’re expecting a thriller that plays like a straight line to the truth, “Animals” seems to do the opposite: it suggests that truth may be the most dangerous thing in the room.

A Cast That Elevates the Unease

One of the film’s strongest draws is the breadth of talent assembled across familiar faces and standout presences:

Ben Affleck, Kerry Washington, Gillian Anderson, Adriana Paz, Ray Fisher, Christopher Woodley, Matt Gerald, Jacob Estrada. With Luis Gerardo Méndez and Steven Yeun.

That mix hints at a story with multiple layers—power, public image, private guilt, and the kind of negotiation that can turn allies into obstacles.
