Ray LaMontagne is on the mend after an onstage health scare.
The folk singer caused concern on Sept. 5 when he collapsed while performing at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.
As seen in footage circulating on social media, LaMontagne was strumming the final few chords to his 2004 single “Jolene” when he let out a soft grunt and keeled over to the floor. As the audience gasped, members of his band rushed over to his side.
The 53-year-old’s team later released a statement sharing that Montagne was “being treated for heat related dehydration,” according to Consequence of Sound.
“Ray is in good hands with the local EMS,” read the statement, which was shared on the Grammy winner’s Instagram Story. “He is doing well now and is grateful for everyone’s understanding.”
The temperature in Nashville reached a high of 101 degrees on the day of the concert, according to AccuWeather.
Prior to his collapse, LaMontagne appeared to feel faint throughout his set, with concertgoer Andrea Curtis telling local newspaper The Tennessean that she saw the musician “repeatedly strike or press his hand against his head, almost as though he were trying to regroup and collect himself.”
“There was no hostility coming from the crowd,” she shared. “Nevertheless, I felt I was watching someone become increasingly overwhelmed in real time.”

Curtis noted that LaMontagne briefly left the stage “for what appeared to be a regroup” before performing “Jolene.”
“The entire sequence of events looked less like one isolated moment at the end of the show,” she added, “and more like an artist who had been struggling and becoming increasingly overwhelmed throughout the performance.”
LaMontagne is currently touring the United States with The Weather Station to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his debut album Trouble. He is scheduled to stop in Syracuse, N.Y., Sept. 8.
