Singer Linda Perhacs, 82, Safe 8 Months After Going Missing

Legendary singer Linda Perhacs was found safe and alive by LAPD after her friends that the 82-year-old had been missing since being discharged from a care facility eight months earlier.

Linda Perhacs‘ friends are celebrating.

Eight months after the “Hey, Who Really Cares” singer was discharged from a residential care facility—during which her friends alleged that they could not get into contact with her—she was found alive July 29.

“She was found today. She’s safe,” the LAPD Missing Persons Unit confirmed to The Daily Mail the same day. However, officials, citing the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, added, “We can’t share where, as it involves her HIPAA.”

Her former manager Laurel Stearns expressed her gratitude to everyone who supported efforts that led to Perhacs—whom Stearns said was being treated for dementia—safely returning home.

“We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who helped amplify this effort by sharing information, reaching out with support, and expressing genuine care for Linda’s well-being,” the manager shared in a statement to Entertainment Weekly. “The overwhelming response from fans, fellow musicians, journalists, and the broader creative community has been a powerful reminder of the profound impact Linda’s music.”

So, what’s next for the 82-year-old?

“At this time, we ask that Linda’s privacy be respected as those close to her determine the best path forward,” Stearns continued. “We hope this moment allows for compassion, healing, and continued support for an artist whose work has touched so many lives.”

Perhacs’ friend Mark McNeill also confirmed that she has a new place to stay. As he explained in a July 29 Instagram post, “Linda Perhacs is safe and in a new care facility.”

Stearns shared on Instagram two days earlier that the legendary singer-songwriter’s friends were concerned about her well-being after she had “gone missing” following her discharge into the supervision of a legal guardian, who was not publicly identified.

“Since then,” she wrote, “friends and longtime collaborators have been unable to reach her and repeated attempts to contact her guardian have reportedly gone unanswered.”

Stearns emphasized that her friends were “not alleging wrongdoing” by the guardian but rather “seeking confirmation that Linda is safe, well, and receiving appropriate care, while expressing concern over the prolonged absence of communication with a beloved public figure.”

E! News has reached out to the LAPD and Stearns for comment and has not yet heard back.
