Russians are more pessimistic ⁠about the state of ​their economy than at any time in the past 20 years, and a majority say ​living standards are worsening, a Gallup survey published on Tuesday shows. But, according to Konstantin Sonin, John Dewey Distinguished Service Professor, Irving B. Harris Graduate School of Public Policy Studies at University of Chicago, this does not represent a tipping point for Vladimir Putin as “Putin doesn’t care much about the quality of living of Russians”.
