Dezeen Showroom: Japanese designer Keiji Takeuchi and contract furniture brand NaughtOne‘s Lotti cafe chair is designed to be colourful, comfortable and repairable.

The Lotti chair has a deceptively simple form, with slightly oversized legs, an angled seat and the option for bright or two-tone colourways.

Lotti is a cafe chair designed for comfort and a long life

Small touches are designed to make it pleasing to sit in over longer sessions, including a subtle dish shape to the seat and a gentle waterfall edge that avoids pressure behind the legs.

“People don’t associate cafe chairs with comfort – Lotti is out to change minds,” said NaughtOne. “We spent hours refining Lotti by millimetres and degrees to make sure it’s comfortable for all kinds of people.”

It is available with either a plastic or plywood seat

Sustainability was another key consideration – the steel frame is combined with either a water-based lacquered plywood or plastic seat containing a high percentage of recycled content.

While the chair is designed to be durable in high-use environments, repair is also planned for, as all of the chair’s fixings are glue-free and removable without specialist tools.

The Lotti chair is available in 16 different frame colours and a seat in either oak plywood or one of 10 hues of polypropylene.
