Miley Cyrus Shouts Out Dad Billy Ray Cyrus Amid His Absence at Walk of Fame Ceremony
Miley Cyrus is giving her dad his flowers.
While being awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame May 22, the Hannah Montana star received support from mom Tish Cyrus, sister Brandi Cyrus and fiancé Maxx Morando, who were in the crowd at the star-studded ceremony. And although Miley’s dad Billy Ray Cyrus was noticeably absent from the big day, she still gave him a touching shoutout in her speech.
“My dad used to say that a skyscraper starts with a jackhammer, so does a star on the Walk of Fame, by the way,” Miley quipped to the crowd, which included friends Anya Taylor-Joy and Donatella Versace. “And it’s not about the force, but it’s about the repetition.”
“What feels so special to me about this star,” Miley noted, “is that it’s an accumulation of devotion.”
Though Miley and Billy Ray had a falling out in recent years—with the “Party in the U.S.A.” singer revealing on the Reclaiming podcast in 2025 that “half of us weren’t speaking to each other at one point”—she said she waved a “white flag” and got everyone back together last year.
She even reunited with Billy Ray in May 2025 to celebrate her brother Braison Cyrus‘ 31st birthday, sharing a snap from the family gathering filled with “peace” and “healing” on Instagram Stories at the time.
Now a year later, the 33-year-old has nothing but gratitude for her loved ones—including Maxx, to whom she got engaged in 2025 after four years of dating—who helped her make it to this meaningful milestone.
“This is where it gets me,” the Last Song actress said on the Walk of Fame while holding back tears, “to my family, my future family, my parents, my mom, my siblings, my friends, my collaborators: Thank you for loving and supporting not only the choices that I make, but my fears, and then facing them with me.”

The three-time Grammy winner also took time to show appreciation for the fans who have supported her since the beginning.
“To my fans, you are the stars that make my dream a reality every day through your love and your support,” Miley expressed, adding that she hopes her music “continues to affect the hearts of generations to come,” and long after she is gone, “awakens something raw and imperfect and sexy and glamorous and joyful in times that need it.”
