Dezeen Showroom: Italian tile manufacturer Marazzi has added a new square format to its majolica-inspired Lume collection, highlighting the surfaces’ glossiness and depth.

The new addition to the Lume porcelain stoneware collection measures 10 by 10 centimetres, a wider shape that brings attention to the zellige-like variation in glazing within each tile.

The Lume collection now includes a square tile

“In the world of ceramic surfaces, few collections manage to combine the essence of craftsmanship with the brilliance of porcelain stoneware like Lume,” said Marazzi.

“With its glossy surfaces, intentional imperfections and rich glazes, Lume celebrates the authentic beauty of handmade majolica, standing out for the expressive power of its colours and material details.”

There is also a new decorative tile called Dew

Building on the new square format, Marazzi is also adding a new decorative tile called Dew, with a raised leaf-like design that builds a soft geometric pattern.

The new format will be available in Lume’s established palette of eight Mediterranean-informed colours, which range from earthy neutrals to deep blues and emeralds.
