Ariel Winter Is Roommates With Modern Family Costar Nolan Gould After Breakup
These Modern Family costars are now modern-day roommates.
Indeed, four days after Ariel Winter confirmed her breakup with long-term boyfriend Luke Benward—who she had lived with in Nashville since 2022—she revealed her onscreen brother Nolan Gould is now her real-life roommate in Los Angeles.
“It’s funny because I spend more time out here now and I rent a house with Nolan,” Ariel told People in an interview published May 18. “People ask me about a Modern Family reboot, but Nolan and I are real roommates now.”
The 28-year-old added, “It’s like we’re having our own little Modern Family reboot, but it’s just the two of us living together. So I see him every day.”
And don’t worry, Ariel noted that audiences would be just as entertained by her and Nolan’s actual day-to-day as they were by the Dunphy family’s fictional reality TV show.
“I’m not gonna lie, when we sit there at night and we watch, like, Temptation Island together, it’s pretty hilarious,” she continued. “So we have thought about [sharing] it. We’re just like, ‘People would find this really funny.’”
Before sharing an address with the 27-year-old, Ariel—who emphasized last week that she and her ex are still “best friends”—had detailed her tight bond with her onscreen brother.
“I’m extremely close to Nolan,” she told People in May 2025. “He plays my little brother, and he and I are still best friends.”
Plus, Ariel shared a special connection with her other costars, including Julie Bowen, Sofía Vergara and Jesse Tyler Ferguson.

“We really were like a real family,” she continued, while noting how “hard” it was to end the series in 2020. “It was weird knowing it would just be over, and I wouldn’t get to see everybody all the time anymore. It was like, ‘Wait, yeah, wait, we’re not going to be together on Monday?’”
And now Ariel gets to have a piece of that family with her every day.
Of course, she and Nolan aren’t the only stars who have shared living spaces with a fellow celeb. Read on for more notable names who were roommates at one point.
