Kim Kardashian Sets the Met Gala 2026 Ablaze in Sizzling, Body-Molded Orange Dress
Kim Kardashian almost had a wardrobe malfunction keeping her from the Met Gala.
In fact, the Kardashians star—who wore a tangerine hardshell bodysuit and matching leather skirt for fashion’s biggest night on May 4—admitted that she worried she broke her Allen Jones and Whitaker Malem custom breastplate during her final fitting.
“Did I break this?” she asked in concern, after bumping the cone fiberglass breast mold as shown in Vogue‘s behind-the-scenes video. “I ran into it so hard.”
“If I broke it or chipped it—” Kim continued, “what about right here?”
After the SKIMS founder was reassured nothing was broken, she expressed her relief, saying, “We wouldn’t have had a Met look. I would’ve had to cancel.”
Not only did Kim not have to cancel, but the reality star ultimately dazzled on the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s steps, with her look embodying this year’s theme “Costume Art” and “Fashion is Art” dress code. After all, the liquid metal ensemble was inspired by Jones’ Maitresse paintings and “Body Armour” sculptural series. (See more stars at the Met Gala here.)
Meanwhile, Kim—who is mom to North, 12, Saint, 10, Chicago, 8, and Psalm, 6, with Kanye West—also gave an inside look at how she prepped on Met Gala Monday, sharing a vlog-style video of clips throughout her day in a May 5 Instagram post, including how her hairstylist Chris Appleton and makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic made her red carpet ready.

In addition to sharing behind-the-scenes footage, the 45-year-old also revealed the sweet treat she indulged in shortly before she hit the Met steps in the show-stopping ensemble: soft serve ice cream with sprinkles.
The Hulu star shared a photo of her delicious pre-event snack on her Instagram Stories, writing, “Met prep.”
