Secret Lives of Mormon Wives to Resume Production After Taylor Frankie Paul Investigation

The secret is out: A new Secret Lives of Mormon Wives show is on the way.

While season five of the Hulu series is set to resume filming following Taylor Frankie Paul’s domestic violence case, the network announced at Hulu’s Get Real House Live on April 22 that a spinoff show is also in development.

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County will center on a new cast of MomTokers in Southern California, including flagship cast member Mayci Neeley’s sister McCall DaPron. She’ll be joined by costars Aspyn Ovard, Avery Woods, Salomé Andrea, Chandler Higginson, Ashleigh Pease and Madison Bontempo.

The OG Mormon Wives’ cast—which includes Taylor, Jen Affleck, Whitney Leavitt, Jessi Draper and Mikayla Matthews—were not announced as members of the new series’ cast.

A few members of the Mormon Wives cast have already branched out into other reality TV franchises, with Jen and Whitney competing on the most recent season of Dancing With the Stars. Plus, Taylor was set to lead season 22 of The Bachelorette in March before ABC decided to cancel her upcoming season amid the release of a 2023 video of a physical altercation between her and her ex Dakota Mortensen.

Meanwhile, Jen has hinted at exploring new opportunities while reflecting on her initial decision to join the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives cast.

“I didn’t know what would come from it but I knew I wanted to share my story,” she wrote on Instagram March 22. “I hoped it could inspire someone or feel relatable. I wanted to be honest about what it’s like being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints, the beauty and the struggles.”

The 26-year-old—mom to kids Nora, 4, Luca, 2, and Penelope, 13 months, with husband Zac Affleck—also detailed wanting to “represent moms” on Dancing With the Stars and highlighting her experience being married at a young age and facing “the real pressures many couples face with culture and expectations.”

“I understand drama is what people expect from reality TV, but I wish more of the other real moments were shown too,” the MomToker continued. “The empowerment, the birth stories, the beauty of motherhood. Since I was dancing on my countertops as a young mom all I’ve ever wanted is to be a light and to help moms and others feel seen, hopeful, and inspired.”

Going forward, she said she wanted to explore the central question, “Who is Jen Affleck?”

“I’m still figuring out who I am, what I believe, what I want, and where I fit,” she concluded. “Thank you to everyone who’s supported me along the way. I’m far from perfect, still learning, but I hope my vulnerability can be a source of good.”
