Tina Knowles Details Beyoncé’s “Hardest Shows” During Pregnancy With Blue Ivy
Solange Knowles’ latest hair transformation was a full circle moment for Tina Knowles.
Shortly after the Grammy winner showed off her newly buzzed head on Instagram, her mom couldn’t help but point out the connection between the new hairstyle and the place she was conceived.
“You look like a beautiful Egyptian Goddess,” Tina wrote in an April 21 Instagram post alongside several pics of her daughter’s buzz cut with defined lines. “Which is very appropriate since you were conceived on a cruise sailing down the Nile in Egypt.”
Tina—who shares Solange, 39, and Beyoncé, 44, with ex-husband Mathew Knowles—continued to praise her younger daughter’s style confidence, writing, “I always said you could shave your head and wear a garbage bag and still look gorgeous.”
“Well ‘Viola’! !!! You turn everything into Art,” she added. “I love your boldness!”
And Solange returned the love in the comments section, writing, “Thank u mother for being my divine north star.”
Indeed, Tina has always been a major influence in Solange’s life, even before she and Beyoncé skyrocketed to stardom. Through the years, the 72-year-old has been a fierce supporter of both her daughters as they’ve reached major success and faced hardships, including miscarriages, infidelity and breakups.
The girls have also been by their mom’s side through her own ups and downs, particularly as she navigated her journey with breast cancer as well as her tumultuous relationship with their father, which ended in their divorce in 2011.

But the trio’s close relationship shouldn’t come as a surprise. After all, Solange has previously been vocal about how their mom led the way when it came to learning independence.
“As far back as I can remember, our mother always taught us to be in control of our voice and our bodies and our work,” the Bring It On: All or Nothing actress said in a 2017 joint interview with Beyoncé for Interview Magazine. “She showed us that through her example.”

Solange also detailed how her older sister became her mentor, especially as it related to their careers in the entertainment industry.
“It’s something I’ve learned so much about from you, getting to be in control of your own narrative,” she told Beyoncé during the interview. “At this point, it should be an expectation, not something that you’re asking permission for. I feel like I’m getting closer to that, not taking on all the baggage when I have to just stand up for myself and say, ‘No, I’m uncomfortable with that.’”
“And I really appreciate you and mom being examples of that,” the “Cranes in the Sky” singer continued, “being able to speak about our achievements, these things that deserve to be celebrated, without feeling bashful about it.”
Ultimately, Solange said Beyoncé was the best of the best—and she couldn’t have asked for better.
“You did a kickass job,” she said. “You were the most patient, loving, wonderful sister ever.”
