Kelly Ripa Says This Nighttime Habit Acts as a “Chastity Belt” for Mark Consuelos
You don’t have to sell Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos on family night.
The Live with Kelly and Mark hosts were more than happy to support their 23-year-old son Joaquin Consuelos when he made his Broadway debut in the revival of Arthur Miller‘s Death of a Salesman April 9.
And it was a momentous occasion for the Consuelos-Ripa crew. After all, Joaquin was still in school when he last appeared at a major public outing with his family—most notably at the unveiling of Kelly’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2015.
Of course, Kelly and Mark weren’t just seated in the audience when the curtains were raised at the Winter Garden Theatre in New York City—they also made it to the cast after-party at Katz’s Delicatessen.
Matching in black attire, the longtime couple—who also share son Michael Consuelos, 28, and daughter Lola Consuelos, 24—were all smiles as they posed for a photo with Joaquin, who plays a younger version of Christopher Abbott‘s Biff character in the production.
Since his last public event with the family, Joaquin has completed high school and college. He graduated from University of Michigan‘s School of Music, Theatre & Dance last year, before kicking off his acting career with a role in Hulu’s Foster Dade pilot.

But when it came to Death of a Salesman, Joaquin didn’t want his parents catching the previews. In fact, Kelly said her son told her to “wait ’til opening night” to see the play.
“I respected his wishes,” she shared during a March episode of her eponymous daytime talk show. “I was like, ‘Well, since I can’t go to first preview, I’m going to get out of town.'”

However, Mark didn’t follow Joaquin’s instructions and ended up sneaking into the show with a last-minute ticket.
“I was watching him with a smile on my face,” the Riverdale actor recalled, “and cried.”
Mark added, “As he was taking his first curtain, the lady next to me said, ‘Mazel tov, your son was amazing!'”

Generational Health
The whole family finally made it to Greece and Italy in June 2021 after the pandemic had other plans in 2020.

History Repeating
In August 2020, Kelly shared an epic recreation of an old family photo from 2003 on Instagram. With youngest son Joaquin on her lap and older kids Michael and Lola perfectly in place, we’d say they nailed it despite the fact that, as Kelly noted, “objects may appear larger.”
